I've been working on an art piece for a family friend over the last few days. The first part of the process was getting my first idea onto the page.

Then I did a little research and looked at a lot of photos of lotus flowers. I sketched out more ideas from there.

I looked at the sketches I came up with and picked the best looks out of each one and combined them into one full sketch.

I sketched that out and then added ink to the page and then put in the first layers of watercolor. I purposefully made the colors pale.

The colors are a touch too warm in this image but I added another layer of the quin magenta. I think the person it's intended for will really love it.
