It’s been a Bumpy Road

One of the comments on my last post was "When are we going to see more of YOUR stuff again ?" or something along those lines. Phew, hopefully I can get something shot this weekend and up on youtube in the beginning of the week. I've got 4 more videos to shoot for the course and then 3 more PDF for that as well.

The video editing has been a bumpy road. I switched programs and had to relearn a lot of stuff with the switch and that was hard. Anything done with the Windoze MovieMaker had to be fixed and essentially totally redone. Now the videos are DVD quality and the files are HUGE. They take a great deal of time to load to the internet but it's worth it in the end. I also learned that I need a lot more light in the studio. The videos are slightly darken than I would light. So i'm working on some new lighting.

After I figured out the new program (Corel VideoStudio) I then didn't realize that the files sizes were over a gig, that took me a week to figure out. I'd leave thigns to load over night and I'd wake up to find they hadn't loaded. So I had to trim 30 seconds and compress the videos again. Sometimes I'm dense.

The good thing is everything is going smoothly now. I suspect my next workshop to go much more easily. I'm going to start working on that as soon as I'm done the videos for this one. I"m going to go intermediate on you all and do a long stitch tutorial with my style of false headbanding and no kettle stitch. It's going to be great.

SOOOO> I"m hoping that I'll do a video this weekend, and get it up to youtube. I promised somone a video on creating tabs in your journal, so I'll start with that.

Some Nice Technique in a Simple Page

Don't click the video if you are bothered by the F word, if you can get past the F word then by all mean click the video and check it out. USed on one page are the following techniques: paint dripping, paint rubbing with a rag, image transfer with gel medium, and writing with a oil pastel. It's gritty and raw. and guess what? I like it.

LAST DAY FOR REGISTRATION: Make Your Own Journal

Enrollment is now closed.

Today (January 23, 2010) is the last day for registration into my Make Your Own Journal workshop for beginners. I will run it again in March/April but the cost will be $25 rather than $15.

I'm opening registration for the first in a series of bookbinding classes. It's called Make Your Own Journal: For Beginners to Bookbinding. It's a 3 week, 8 video class that will teach you 3 different styles of single signature books. We'll also discuss cover materials and collage covers together that will be sturdy enough to stand up to whatever you throw at it. These will be soft but stiff covers.
If you are interested you can paypal the $15 course fee below:

The stamps came with the journal and are aptly of vegetables… I then glued in a photo of the 3 pills I’ve yet to take a copy of the bill for them, wrote in with a green sharpie.then added some gesso and ink with a q-tip. I scraped the inks with a piece of cardboard. I used my white jelly roll pen to write on the ink while it was still damp, so it would blend and smear a bit. The jelly roll did not want to write on the photo so I got out my deco art pen and sharpie pen to write on the photo. I also used the sharpie pen in 2 colors to add some details to the bill.
