It's 17 degrees up here in Mass and My car needs warming so I don't freeze my fingers off. So while I warm my car I figured I do a brief update.
THe paper shear continues to be my most significant purchase, ever. I suspect it has cut the time I use to make books in less than half. (Pun totally intended.) I'm able to run through jotters and matchbook notebooks so fast it's amazing. As a result I've lowered the prices on my jotters, I'm now offering a 6 pack for $7.99 plus shipping. I'm still working out a new price for the matchbook notebooks, but you can expect to see a drop in their price as well.
I picked up some great paper for hedgehogs a few weeks ago at charette. I snagged several hundreds of sheets at a great price and I've stitched up 10 blocks so far. I trimmed them and will be gluing them this weekend and maybe even adding a few covers. I had stopped doing hedgehogs because to get them trimmed I had to take them to staples and it cost 50 cents a cut, which sounds like not alot until you realize each block takes about 3 cuts and I could only get one of the guys to stack 3 blocks in the machine the other would only do 2 at a time. So as you can guess it was pricey. Again the shear to the rescue. In less than 10 minutes I was able trim all 10 books to the right size with great straight edges.
Anyway you can find the jotters with he new price in my etsy shop. I hav a ton more in different colors and papers, email me to find out more.

Great little moleskine image.

Andy is a coworker of mine. He has some fantastic photography on his flickr account that reminds me of Maine where I grew up, though many of the shots are of the mid-west. Anyway, good stuff, check it out.

I love this paper!sunny yellows and spring like pinks with green and white paper inside. They cry out for spring and garden plannings!!!!
I'm having a fast paced weekend here at
the Comfortable Shoes homestead. I had an old friend and artist come
over for dinner last night, we spent the evening eating good food,
catching up and chatting about an art project she has in mind. It's
always good to talk to other people of an artistic persuasion and get
a different perspective, I find it inspiring.
We're due to get more snow and I'm
pretty much ready for spring. I've been planning my garden for weeks
now and this latest addition of snow is unwelcome. I want to put my
rain barrels out and dig the rest of my garden.
I've loaded up some fresh new jotters
to etsy and you can find them here. I've got a variety of interior
papers-, put white, gray, 24lb 25% cotton, and some nice 1984 dot
matrix paper.. The covers are a variety of colors and images.
Something for everyone.

GoodKarma on etsy, makes a wallet and a case specifically to fit my jotter notebooks and cahiers. The case is very well made and holds all my cards and what little cash I have on hand. In the back the pocket that holds the notebooks is snug and a perfect fit. There is a spot to hold a pen and a zippered pocket in the front. I’m excited about these. ANyone who buys a case or wallet from goodkarma will get a special discount code to use on refill note books! sa-weet!

This is so cool.
Okay so I've had a few whirlwind weeks.
Mostly good. Some exciting new:
I finally bought a paper shear. Yes the
tool I have wanted for years, about 5, and eluded me on price until
now is in my possession. I can't believe I held out on it for so
long. It amazes me how much faster I can make books when I'm using
this fantastic piece of equipment. Some technical notes:
I bought a 12inch shear, meaning its
largest cut is 12 inches. I'm regretting not going for the 17inch
model, but 12 inches is very good. I can cut entire reams of regular
paper with it! It cuts through 250 sheets like it's nothing. Amazing!
I'm able to trim my hedgehogs, jotters and matchbook notebooks with
ease and multiples at a time. I'm so happy.
Second exciting news, related tot eh
shear. Years ago I bought a box of 80's computer paper at a salvage
store, the old green and white variety. I'm able to chop it and use
it now. How exciting is that? 1984 called and it wants it's radical
paper back.
The best news for last. I'm working
with GoodKarma another etsy seller who makes fine handmade things.
She is making super sweet cases for my jotter notebooks, they fit
perfectly some in great color combinations and are very well made.
I've been using mine for a few weeks now and everyone who see's it asks
me where I
got it and comments on how great it is. I'll get some pictures of it
in action and post them up. But I'm super excited about the
collaboration. You can find her great work here and all my jotter
notebooks fit her covers! Awesome.
I've listed a whole load of jotters up on etsy this past week and over the course of the next few weeks i"ll be changing the prices to reflect my new pricing structure. I have a vast color selection of covers available, dont' see something you like? Send me an email and I'll let you know if I have something that might strike your fancy.
